Research Activities
We concentrate on machine-learning models and algorithms to understand natural language. Here are our major research topics that we are currently interested in as follows.
Parsing
We have studied syntactic theories and techniques that computers are able to parse natural-language sentences and understand the meanings of these sentences. Currently, we concentrate on dependency parsing for Vietnamese and archive state-of-the-art results. In the future, we want to improve the performance of this parsing and implement dependency structures to improve the quality of text-analysis applications. Especially, we are interested in dependency parsing in next research works. If you would like to understand in detail, please refer to our related paper in the section Publications.
Sentiment Analysis
We have concentrated on the state-of-the-art techniques and algorithms of sentiment analysis or opinion mining on specified domains. These studies are from the sentence level to document level as well as aspect-based sentiment. Two main domains which we are interested in are education and commercial products. We perform three research works such as building corpora, finding good models and creating beneficial applications. If you would like to understand in detail, please refer to our related paper in the section Publications.
Writing Assistance
Writing Assistance is a beneficial tool to support non-native speakers to make reports or papers to be better. In this application, we use the NLP platform technologies to build this app which is able to auto-correct grammars and spellings, and styles. In particular, we merely focus on the scientific domain from collecting research papers and articles. If you would like to understand in detail, please refer to our related paper in the section Publications.
Question Answering and Machine Reading Comprehension
Question Answering (QA) is a perfect AI system of natural language processing which is able to understand the meaning of any question and then return its correct answer. For example, if we ask “What is the unique university to train information technology in Vietnam?” this QA system would answer “In Vietnam there is merely the University of Information Technology – VNU-HCM” and this will save our time to search the huge information on the Internet. If you would like to understand in detail, please refer to our related paper in the section Publications.
